Burt Bacharach Day

"Loneliness Remembers (What Happiness Forgets)" is my favorite collaboration between Dionne Warwick - a vocalist who makes the difficult look easy - and Burt Bacharach/Hal David. Here's a clip from a 1970 episode of Kraft Music Hall of Burt and Dionne rehearsing this great song.

Thanks for sharing this! Amazing pairing of composer and singer. In another world, another day, we wouldn't need all the strings and voices punctuating it all. I'd love to have heard it in Getz/Gilberto type instrumentation/setting....
great posts!

The orchestrations are good (if not quite as cool as those by George Martin, Brian Wilson or George Gershwin), but I agree with you. Dionne, subtle Brazilian percussion and nylon string guitar would've been enough for me.

Come to think of it, I feel the same way about the Sinatra-Jobim recordings, even though the arrangements are fine.
